What is Merged Folding?

Earn more then just FLDC with Merged Folding

Merged Folding is in BETA currently and still has bugs to work out. This means that distributions may not be 100% accurate at this time. Please be aware that if your distribution is inaccurate, that FoldingCoin is not liable for this. Please follow up on the Tokenly Project Board to get an idea of what issues are still currently known. https://github.com/tokenly/bitsplit/projects/1

As many of you know, you can earn Curecoin (CURE) in addition to earning FoldingCoin (FLDC). FoldingCoin Inc is now proud to offer the Merged Folding platform, so you can earn even more tokens for your Folding@home work! FoldingCoin Inc has partnered up with Tokenly to provide a way for other projects to distribute their tokens on our platform. Currently only Counterparty based projects can distribute on the platform, but we have plans to expand the system to work with other blockchains.

Distributions can currently be found at the Merged Folding Pulib Distributions page at https://mergedfolding.net/distributions to track what has been given away to the community. Only distributions done under the Tokenpass username FoldingCoin are official distributions.

The way it works is simple: as long as you are setup to earn FLDC, you are already setup to earn additional tokens, as long as you are not using an exchange address such as Bittrex or Poloniex. Tokens that are distributed will be automatically sent to your Counterwallet address that currently receives FLDC. Please keep the following things in mind with Merged Folding:

1. Merged Folding is permissionless, which means anyone who is willing to distribute on our platform, is able to distribute on our platform. This can allow for “spam” or “scam” tokens to be potentially distributed to you. Please always research projects that you receive tokens from before using the token, as the FoldingCoin Inc team will have no control over who is allowed to distribute. Just because a token has distributed on our platform, it does not mean it gets endorsed by the FoldingCoin team.

2. Please DO NOT USE AN EXCHANGE ADDRESS IN YOUR FOLDING@HOME NAME. We will be sending all tokens to the address that is found in your FAH username. If you are using an exchange address, the exchange will not recognize the additional distributed tokens. Any tokens received by the exchange, will potentially be lost forever. It is unlikely the exchange will assist you in retrieving the tokens since that would create extra overhead, and potential security issues in the way they manage their wallets. If you have been using an exchange address up to this point, please consider changing to a Counterparty address.

3. FoldingCoin Inc does not officially endorse any project doing a distribution on our platform. We have the right to come out and promote a project doing a distribution, if we choose to. Since we are opening Merged Folding to be as permissionless as possible, do not consider the tokens you receive from Merged Folding as a sign of endorsement from the FoldingCoin Inc project.

4. FoldingCoin Inc and Tokenly do not make any money from this service. This is a free service that we provide to anyone in order to help increase the amount of tokens that Folders can receive. By keeping this platform free of charge, FoldingCoin Inc is hoping to help increase the size of the Folding@home network and grow the community. Any BTC costs associated with distributions are used as fuel to send the tokens, not as profit for FoldingCoin Inc or Tokenly.
